JAISALMER'S DESERT FESTIVAL
Three days before the full moon of the Hindu month of Magh, the 12th-century Jaisalmer Fort located in the desert separating India and Pakistan is transformed. Participants arrive to take part in what has become known as the annual Jaisalmer Desert Festival. The three-day event is an all-out exhibition which includes but is not limited to camel races, turban-tying, mustache competitions, camel polo matches, fire dances, and Air Force stunts.
The exhibition, although continuing to thrive in the Modern Age, is a true ode to traditional customs and leaves viewers bewitched with its grandiose display of colours, people and events.
